New Delhi, 05-04-2024 : The Congress unveiled its manifesto titled ‘Nyay Patra’ for the upcoming 2024 Lok Sabha elections at the AICC headquarters, pledging to reassess the anti-people policies implemented by the Bharatiya Janata Party-led National Democratic Alliance government.

The manifesto launch ceremony was presided over by Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, along with former party presidents Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi, General Secretary KC Venugopal, and manifesto committee chairman P Chidambaram. This unveiling occurred just two weeks before the impending general elections.

Congress releases its ‘Nyay Patra’, guarantees caste census, restoring J&K's statehood Congress says it will abolish Agnipath scheme, raise reservation cap over 50 pc

In his address, Kharge emphasized the significance of ‘Nyay Patra,’ asserting the party’s commitment to propel the country’s social and economic advancement. He vowed to unlock avenues of development for farmers, the underprivileged, laborers, women, and other marginalized sections of society. Kharge assured that every promise made in the manifesto would be honored, emphasizing the party’s track record of translating words into action.

Highlighting the challenges faced during the past decade under the Modi government, Kharge underscored the economic downturn, unemployment crisis, agrarian distress, business losses, women’s safety concerns, erosion of rights for marginalized communities, and compromised institutional independence.

The manifesto is structured around five key pillars of justice: Yuva Nyay, Naari Nyay, Kisaan Nyay, Shramik Nyay, and Hissedari Nyay, which emerged from the ‘Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra’ spearheaded by Rahul Gandhi. It encompasses 25 guarantees aimed at addressing various socio-economic issues.

One notable proposal is the introduction of a new Right to Apprenticeship Act, offering one-year apprenticeships with private or public sector companies to diploma holders or college graduates under the age of 25. These apprentices would receive Rs. 1 lakh annually, fostering skill development, enhancing employability, and generating job opportunities for millions of youth.

The manifesto also promises free healthcare services across public health centers, including hospitals, clinics, primary health centers, mobile healthcare units, dispensaries, and health camps, covering examinations, diagnostics, treatments, surgeries, medications, rehabilitation, and palliative care.

Education reform is another focal point, with commitments to amend the Right to Education Act to make education from Class I to Class XII in public schools compulsory and free. Additionally, the Congress pledges to review and amend the National Education Policy, developed in consultation with state governments.

Furthermore, the manifesto introduces the Mahalakshmi scheme, providing Rs. 1 lakh per year as unconditional cash transfers to impoverished Indian families. The party also aims to address the nearly 30 lakh vacancies in sanctioned posts within the central government and discontinue the Agnipath program while directing the Armed Forces to resume normal recruitment efforts to achieve full sanctioned strength.
