Congress MPs Demand Hardeep Puri’s Resignation, Stage Protest Over Controversy
Minister rejects allegations, says past interactions unrelated to disgraced financier’s crimes
New Delhi, Feb 13: Congress MPs staged a protest inside the Parliament House complex on Friday, calling for the resignation of Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri after his name reportedly appeared in the ‘Epstein Files’ released in the United States.
Lawmakers gathered outside the Parliament building, raising slogans and pressing for an explanation from the minister. Protesters displayed a large banner featuring images of Puri alongside Jeffrey Epstein, intensifying the political confrontation.
The minister had earlier dismissed the accusations and criticised Congress leader Rahul Gandhi for what he described as suggestive remarks. Puri acknowledged meeting Epstein on a few occasions but maintained that those interactions were unrelated to the criminal activities associated with the convicted American financier.
The development has triggered a fresh political row, with the opposition demanding accountability while the minister firmly denies any wrongdoing.
