Congress Reshuffles Delhi Unit, Names Six New District Chiefs and MCD Bypoll In-charges

Party announces fresh organisational appointments, including senior observers and ward in charges, to strengthen grassroots leadership before MCD by elections.

New Delhi, Oct 01 : The Congress on Friday announced a major organisational overhaul in its Delhi unit, appointing six new District Congress Committee (DCC) Presidents and naming senior observers and ward in-charges for the upcoming Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) by elections.
According to an official statement issued by AICC General Secretary (Organisation) K.C. Venugopal, the appointments were approved by Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge and come into effect immediately.

The six new district presidents include Mahender Bhaskar (Karol Bagh), Mohammad Usman (Chandni Chowk), Rajesh Yadav (Najafgarh), Sumit Sharma (Krishna Nagar), Virender Sharma (Mehrauli), and Mohinder Mangla (New Delhi).
Political observers say the appointments reflect the party’s effort to strengthen its district level leadership and boost organisational presence in the national capital ahead of the crucial MCD bypolls.
Congress deploys ward-level leaders for grassroots mobilisation
The party also announced senior observers and ward in-charges for 12 wards across Delhi to ensure better coordination during the upcoming elections.
For Chandni Chowk (Ward No. 74), Rajesh Lilothia has been appointed Senior Observer with Sharanjeet Sharma as Ward In-charge, while Haroon Yusuf and Jagjivan Sharma will oversee Chandni Mahal (Ward No. 76).
In East Delhi’s Vinod Nagar (Ward No. 198), Anil Chaudhary will serve as Senior Observer, with Mujeeb Rehman as Ward In-charge. Vijay Lochav and Charanjeet Rai will handle Naraina (Ward No. 139), and Abhishek Dutt and Neetu Verma Soni will oversee Greater Kailash (Ward No. 173).
The list further includes Jag Pravesh and Gopal Thakur for Mundka (Ward No. 35), Kamal Kant Sharma and Rajesh Yadav for Dwarka-B (Ward No. 120), and Krishna Tirath with J.P. Panwar for Dichau Kalan (Ward No. 128).
For South Delhi, Hassan Ahmed and Chanderkant Giri have been assigned Sangam Vihar-A (Ward No. 163), while Jitender Kochar and Jai Prakash will oversee Dakshin Puri (Ward No. 164).
According to party insiders, the revamped structure aims to revitalise the Congress’ grassroots network and improve coordination between district committees and the Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee (DPCC) ahead of the bypolls.
