Congress Slams Trump: Claims He Repeatedly Boasted About Halting Operation Sindoor Through Trade

Congress accuses former US President of exaggerating his role in India-Pakistan conflict resolution.

New Delhi, Oct 10: The Congress party on Friday mocked former US President Donald Trump for repeatedly claiming that he halted Operation Sindoor using trade and tariffs, saying he has “reached the half-century mark” in making this assertion. The party added that it won’t be long before he “scores a century.”

Congress general secretary Jairam Ramesh took a swipe at the Modi government, noting that Prime Minister Narendra Modi spent much of Thursday engaged in talks with UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer and sending “message after message of praise and admiration to President Trump.” Ramesh also highlighted that Modi spoke with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu during this time.

Referring to Trump’s remarks during a meeting with Finnish President Alexander Stubb, Ramesh said,

“President Trump has been consistent, insistent, and persistent in claiming he stopped Operation Sindoor using trade and tariffs as his brahmastra. It won’t be long before he scores a century.”

The Congress leader shared a video clip of Trump’s statements asserting his role in stopping the India-Pakistan conflict. Last month, Trump repeated similar claims in his address at the United Nations, despite India maintaining that the cessation of hostilities with Pakistan was achieved through direct military talks between the Directors General of Military Operations (DGMO) of the two countries.

The Congress party’s comments come amid heightened scrutiny over Trump’s self-claimed diplomatic interventions, questioning the authenticity of his repeated assertions regarding India-Pakistan tensions.
