Congress to defeat communal divisive forces with likeminded parties – Kara
Warm reception to Kara at Jammu by congress workers. Leaders paid rich tributes to Rajiv Gandhi on his 80th birth anniversary
Jammu, August 20: Newly appointed JKPCC President Shri Tariq Hameed Kara was accorded a rousing reception by the congress workers at Jammu today on his arrival from Srinagar.
Accompanied by AICC General Secretary Shri G.A. Mir, Working President JKPCC Shri Tara Chand and Shri Raman Bhalla besides Ch. Lal Singh, Shri Mula Ram, Th. Balwan Singh and other senior leaders Mr. Karra was accorded a rousing reception from the Airport to PCC Office Shaheedi Chowk Jammu where he paid tributes to Shri Rajiv Gandhi and addressed a large gathering.
In his address, Shri Karra said that Congress will defeat communal and divisive forces with like-minded parties in order to bring the people out of the present political unrest and hardships. He said that elections to the UT Assembly are being held after 10 years without restoring the statehood which is a great betrayal by the BJP with the people of Jammu and Kashmir. He said that Congress and like-minded parties will form the next government and BJP will face defeat because of its failures on all fronts.
He said that unemployment is at its highest, people are being fleeced through taxes and smart meters during peak price hikes and the BJP is busy in vote bank politics through polarization and diversionary tactics .
He said that Congress will bring the people out of the present morass under the leadership of Shri Mallikarjun Kharge and Shri Rahul Gandhi as people have suffered a lot for the past 10 years especially for without jobs and those on daily, temporary basis have not been regularized for years. He said that congress workers are the backbone of the party and everyone in the party would get due respect.
He said that Shri Rahul Gandhi has travelled through the length and breadth of this country to fight against the politics of hate and division and to safeguard democracy and Constitution in the country. He along with Congress President Shri Mallikarjun Kharge are arriving here tomorrow and in Srinagar to interact with the party workers and send out a strong message of unity and brotherhood. Shri Karra thanked the Congress leadership Smt. Sonia Gandhi , Shri Mallikarjun Kharge and Shri Rahul Gandhi for the new assignment.
AICC General Secretary Shri G.A. Mir in his address welcomed the decision of Congress high command for appointing an experienced leader Shri Tariq Hameed Karra as PCC President at this crucial juncture of Assembly elections. He said that Shri Karra had resigned from his Lok Sabha against the policies of the BJP towards Jammu and Kashmir and joined the Congress party to protect the secular democratic system in this country.
He said that Congress party will join hands with secular parties to defeat the communal politics of BJP which is most dangerous for this part of the country. He said that the people of Jammu and Kashmir have suffered the most because of the divisive politics of BJP and all sections of people have suffered a lot, especially the youth. He said that Congress President and Shri Rahul Gandhi are personally visiting in short notice to interact with the party workers.
Former Dy Chief Minister & Working President PCC Shri Tara Chand and Working President Shri Raman Bhalla also spoke and welcomed the new PCC President and expressed confidence that the party shall emerge victorious to form the next Govt. with like-minded parties. Most of the senior leaders, DCC Presidents, and Frontal Wing leaders from all over the Jammu region were present on the occasion.
