Congress to hold Protest Rally on May 1st in Jammu to save Constitution, Restoration of Statehood
JK Congress leaders meet decide to launch 40days movement in all Districts and Assemblies
Jammu, April 22: Launching a 40-day movement to save the constitution and press for the restoration of statehood, a high-level meeting of JKPCC here today decided to carry forward the movement in all districts and Assembly Segments and hold a mega protest rally on May 1st in Jammu.
Chaired by JKPCC Chief Shri Tariq Hameed Karra, the meeting was attended by Working Presidents Shri Tara Chand and Raman Bhalla, former M.P. Ch. Lal Singh, former ministers, MLA/MLCs, district presidents, block presidents, leaders of frontal wings and cells, and other prominent leaders of the party from the entire Jammu Province at Kashmir Hills Resort, Pata Bohri Talab Tillo Jammu.
Addressing the gathering, the JKPCC Chief told the party leaders to gear up the party cadres in their respective assembly segments, blocks, and districts to expose the BJP’s politics of vendetta to divert and digress the attention of people from real issues facing the common man and the youths.
He called upon all; DCC block presidents and contesting candidates besides party functionaries of all levels to mobilize the cadres for participation in the protest rally on May 1st besides holding series of rallies in all districts before May 3rd to May 1o and Assembly Segments from May 11 to May 17 and blocks etc up to the end of May. All frontal wings were also asked to mobilize their cadres to organize and participate in the rallies all over the UT.
Karra said that Congress shall not take lying down any attack on our leadership and on democracy and constitutional institutions by the Modi Govt. which is out to weaken our constitutional institutions in the country to divert the attention of the people from its communal and divisive vendetta politics.
Paying floral tributes to Father of Nation Mahatma Gandhi and Father of the Constitution Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, Karra said that BJP and Modi Govt. has been weakening the constitution and constitutional institutions in the country for the last several years, besides targeting the main opposition leaders through the ED, CBI, IT and other agencies. The fresh attack on our leadership, Smt. Sonia Gandhi, Shri Rahul Gandhi and others in the National Herald case is a clear matter of vendetta without any case or criminality, which was closed earlier.
He announced that to strongly oppose the BJP Govt.’s attack on our Constitution and target our leadership besides continuously ignoring the demand of statehood besides to highlight the burning issues of people, the Congress shall hold a large protest on May 1st at Pata Bohri Talab Tillo, Jammu which shall also be addressed by AICC General Secretary incharge J&K affair Dr. Syed Naseer Hussain and other senior leaders.
He expressed grave concern over the failure of the Centre Govt. to contain the worsening security situation. as a result our security forces are sacrificing their lives, and the people especially in the border, remote and far-flung villages in the Jammu region are fearing for their lives.
Karra also expressed concern over the large-scale unemployment causing frustration amongst youths, daily wagers, casual workers, contractual and other temporary employees working on megre wages for the past several years, and the neglect of Centre Govt. to come up to the expectations of people of Jammu and Kashmir by extending powers and special financial needs of J&K due to abnormal situations.
Expressing solidarity with the suffering people due to huge natural calamity at Ramban caused by the flash floods, he called upon the centre and the UT Govts. to extend all possible relief, rescue, and rehabilitation measures to deal with the situation.
Several senior leaders, district and block presidents, and frontal wings participants addressed the gathering and assured the leadership that to would face the challenges and strengthen the organization at the grassroots root level.
