Congress Veteran Sonia Gandhi Takes Oath in Rajya Sabha Amidst Ceremony in New Parliament House

New Delhi, 04-04-2024 : Congress leader Sonia Gandhi was sworn in as a Member of the Rajya Sabha in the new Parliament House on Thursday. The oath-taking ceremony was conducted by the Vice President of India and Chairman of Rajya Sabha, Jagdeep Dhankhar.

Sonia Gandhi, the former president of the Congress party, was elected unopposed to the Upper House from Rajasthan.

In response to her oath-taking, Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge conveyed his best wishes to Sonia Gandhi on social media. He expressed his support for her new role, stating, “My best wishes to the Congress Parliamentary Party Chairperson, Sonia Gandhi, as she begins her new innings by taking oath in the Rajya Sabha today.”

Kharge highlighted Sonia Gandhi’s resilience and grace in the face of challenges, noting her enduring commitment to guiding the party’s parliamentary strategy. He also acknowledged her significant tenure of 25 years serving in the Lok Sabha, expressing anticipation for her contributions to the Upper House.
