CPI(M) Delegation Holds High-Level Discussions During China Visit

Six-Member CPI(M) Team Engages With Chinese Leadership to Strengthen Bilateral Party Relations

A six member delegation of the Communist Party of India (Marxist), led by General Secretary M.A. Baby, departed for Beijing on Tuesday at the invitation of the International Department of the Communist Party of China (CPC). The delegation will remain in China until September 30, 2025, for high-level discussions with the CPC leadership, according to an official CPI(M) statement.

The team includes Politburo members Mohammad Salim, Jitendra Chaudhury, R. Arun Kumar, and Central Committee members K. Hemalata and C.S. Sujatha.

The visit forms part of ongoing party to party exchanges between CPI(M) and CPC, aimed at strengthening political and cooperative ties. Discussions are expected to cover a wide range of topics, including political strategies, economic cooperation, and social development initiatives.

This delegation visit comes amid efforts to enhance India-China relations following recent border tensions. In December 2024, India and China held the 23rd meeting of Special Representatives in Beijing to discuss the longstanding border dispute, with National Security Advisor Ajit Kumar Doval leading the Indian side and Foreign Minister Wang Yi representing China.

The CPI(M) delegation aims to further consolidate party-level ties and foster dialogue on issues of mutual interest, reinforcing ongoing efforts to maintain constructive engagement between the two nations.
