Crime Branch Kashmir Files Chargesheet in Multi-Lakh Fake Jobs Scam

EOW reveals Reyaz Ahmad Taploo duped unemployed youth through fake NGO and forged appointment letters

Srinagar, Dec 28: In a major crackdown on employment-related fraud, the Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of Crime Branch Kashmir has filed a detailed chargesheet before the Court of City Judge (Sub Registrar) Srinagar in connection with a large scale job scam. Dozens of unemployed youth were allegedly cheated of lakhs of rupees on the false promise of jobs in reputed hospitals and banks, officials said.

The chargesheet pertains to FIR No. 49/2022, registered under Sections 420, 467, 468, 471 RPC, following complaints from residents of Tangmarg who alleged they were duped by Reyaz Ahmad Taploo, S/o Mohammad Sidiq Taploo, R/o Anchaar Dagapora, Soura, Srinagar.

According to officials, the accused lured job seekers by promising employment as security guards in reputed hospitals and banks. Under this pretext, he reportedly collected several lakhs of rupees from the victims. To further legitimize the scam, the accused allegedly issued fake appointment orders and uniform items, convincing the victims that the offers were genuine.

Investigation by the EOW revealed that Taploo was operating a fake NGO named “SAI NGO Consultancy” as a front for the fraud. Using this entity, he systematically cheated unemployed youth through forged appointment letters and false assurances of employment. The probe confirmed deliberate acts of cheating, forgery, and misuse of forged documents, constituting serious economic offences.

After completing legal formalities and gathering sufficient evidence, the EOW has formally submitted the chargesheet for judicial scrutiny and trial.

The Economic Offences Wing has urged the public to remain vigilant against fraudulent job offers and to verify the authenticity of recruiting agencies before making any financial commitments.
