Dal Lake Cleaning Drive Unearths Shell Remnant From Operation Sindoor Blast
Officials recover explosive remnants from May 10 blast during routine cleaning drive in Srinagar’s iconic Dal Lake.
Srinagar, Sep 20: Remains of a shell that exploded in Dal Lake during Operation Sindoor in May were recovered during a cleaning drive, officials said on Saturday.
The shell debris was discovered by teams of the Lake Conservation and Management Authority (LCMA) and subsequently handed over to the nearest police station for further examination and necessary action.
On May 10, a missile-like object had plunged into the Dal Lake following multiple explosions across Srinagar, sending smoke billowing from the water surface. Security forces had retrieved parts of the object soon after. On the same day, another suspected device was found in Lasjan on the city’s outskirts.
Operation Sindoor was launched as India’s military response to Pakistan following the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack, which claimed 26 lives.
