POONCH, MARCH 31. Deputy Commissioner, Poonch, lnder Jeet today presided over the weekly Block Diwas meeting, here at tehsil headquarter Mandi.
He was accompanied by Senior Superintendent of police, Vinod Kumar; CEO Tourism, Tanveer Ahmed Khan; Assistant Commissioner Development, Rajesh Lakhan; Program officer ICDS, Executive Engineers of different departments, District social welfare officer, District Panchayat Officer, Assistant Labour Commissioner, besides other district and sectoral officers.
The Deputy Commissioner held a detailed interaction with Block Development Council chairpersons, Sarpanchs, Panchs, social activists, and locals of the three Blocks of Mandi, Loran, and Sathra.
The Serpanchs and Panchs apprised the Deputy Commissioner about various issues pertaining to their areas and Panchayats. They demanded upgrading of road infrastructure, inclusion of left out beneficiaries under PMAY scheme and old-age pension scheme, replacement of water pipelines, increase in Kerosene quota, better power and health facilities, posting of adequate teaching staff in newly upgraded Higher Secondary School, Arai and adequate staff in J&K bank Mandi and different primary health centres and sub-primary health centres located in the three Blocks.
The further sought immediate start of work on washed-out stretch of road connecting Arai village.
The Block development chairpersons Shamim Ahmed Ganai and Frida Chowdhary also highlighted the issues of development in detail in their respective blocks. They sought taping of tourism potential by upgrading and placing standard infrastructure for attracting tourist footfall to the areas.
After listening to the issues of the locals, the DC redressed many grievances on the spot and passed a slew of directions to the concerned officers to ensure speedy implementation of golden cards under Sehat scheme, 100% Aadhar seeding of ration cards, inclusion of beneficiaries of various central and state-sponsored schemes, formulation of timely plans for execution of the standard quality of the works.
The DDC directed the officers to spread mass awareness among locals regarding individual beneficiary CS& SS schemes.
The PHE department was directed to plug the loopholes to ensure adequate drinking water facilities during the holy month of Ramadan. The revenue and police departments were directed to streamline the traffic congestion and illegal mining.
The PWD and PMGSY departments were asked to take on-the-spot details related to road connectivity.
Later, the DDC also met with a large number of delegations and addressed their problems, he also paid a surprise visit to sub district hospital Mandi and the main branch of Jammu and Kashmir Bank to get a first-hand appraisal of its functioning. He also inspected the newly created tourism infrastructure at Budha Amarnath Mandi.
