POONCH, MARCH 24: Deputy Commissioner Poonch, Inder Jeet today convened an introductory cum interactive session with the media persons in which prominent media persons from across the district participated. The session was conducted with the media fraternity to seek feedback and suggestions on various development-related issues.
At the outset, Additional Deputy Commissioner Dr. Bashrat Hussain gave a brief appraisal about the functioning of media outlets in the district including print and electronic media.
Speaking on the occasion, the DC observed that media has a very positive and constructive role in delivering good governance by projecting and highlighting various public issues appropriately.
He added that after all, We are working for the common cause and interest of the society that is making development in a peaceful environment.
During the meeting, the representatives of the press forum briefed the DC about the problems they are facing while discharging their professional duties at ground level. They also put forth their demands which include the establishment of press club in the district headquarter and certain financial benefits permissible allowances, if any. Moreover, they also demanded the upgradation of basic infrastructure in the Information department for their convenience.
The DC gave a patient hearing and assured them that their genuine demands shall be redressed on priority. He directed the Department of information and public relations to maintain a close liaison with the journalists besides to act as a bridge between the administration and the people at large.
He appealed to media persons to play their constructive role in the containment of the second wave of the COVID 19 pandemic by disseminating maximum information to the public for strict adherence to SOPs.
