DC Reasi Charandeep Singh reviews disaster preparedness

Tehsildars, departments asked to set up control rooms; prepare Disaster Management Plans

REASI, JULY 13: District Development Commissioner Reasi, Charandeep Singh today chaired a meeting of officers to review the status of Disaster preparedness for meeting out any natural calamity in view of the ongoing monsoon season.

The meeting was attended by ADDC, Jyoti Slathia; Additional Deputy Commissioner, Abdul Star; ACR, Sanjay Badyal; CMO, Dr. Rajeev Kumar Sharma; Executive Engineers of R&B PHE PDD, Tehsildars, DySP, AEE I&FC, officials of SDRF and other concerned officers.

During the meeting, the DDC informed that a disaster management control room has been established at the DC office with the requisite infrastructure and communication network.

He directed all concerned Departments and Tehsildars to set up 24×7 control rooms to address grievances or problems of the public during any emergency.

 The Tehsildars were further directed to prepare a comprehensive Disaster Management Plan in a time-bound manner, while all the departments were asked to work in synergy and coordination to deal with any exigency. The concerned departments were asked to nominate nodal officers and constitute of teams that will remain ready to deal with public issues.

Further, the DC issued instructions to the departments to submit the action plans in this regard, conduct mock drills and hold public awareness events as precautionary measures.

The DC also stressed on the involvement of volunteers in disaster management in case of any emergency.

While interacting with officers, DC took stock of the preparedness level of all the departments to deal with any disaster and exhorted all concerned to stay prepared.

Reviewing the preparedness of the health department, the DC directed CMO to impart first aid training to SDRF officials in far-flung areas and make sure the availability of medicines at all health centres.

Mobilization of local communities for extending assistance to the administration is extremely important for ensuring successful dealing with disaster situations, he added.

The PDD and PWD officials were directed to identify the locations in far-flung areas of the district where resources of the said departments need to be augmented for prompt rescue and response during any eventuality and to set up a 24×7 Control room to deal with any complaint related to electricity and road connectivity.

While interacting with Tehsildars, DC directed them to prepare a comprehensive Disaster Management Plan focusing on identification of vulnerable areas, response strategy, preparedness, and mitigation strategy including constitution of teams and establishment of a 24×7 Control Room at Tehsil level. He directed for continuous monitoring of the situation to contain any emergency.
