Delhi gears up for Putin’s arrival with grand welcome, heightened security

Delhi tightens multi layer security as Russian President arrives for key India-Russia Summit

Russia, Dec 04 : As Russian President Vladimir Putin arrives in India on Thursday for a landmark two day visit, New Delhi has been adorned with welcome banners and heightened security, setting the stage for high stakes diplomatic engagements.

Putin will begin his official schedule with a private dinner hosted by Prime Minister Narendra Modi soon after landing in the capital. The 23rd India-Russia Annual Summit, scheduled for Friday, comes amid the backdrop of U.S. sanctions on New Delhi, placing greater focus on deepening defence cooperation, expanding trade, and boosting energy partnerships.

This visit marks Putin’s first trip to India since the Ukraine conflict began, making it a crucial moment in India-Russia relations. He will receive a ceremonial welcome on Friday before the formal talks commence.

Five-layer security blanket over Delhi

To secure the high-profile visit, authorities have activated a comprehensive five-tier security framework across the capital.

The arrangements include:

NSG commandos and snipers stationed along key routes

Drone surveillance and advanced signal jammers

AI-powered monitoring systems for real-time oversight

High-tech facial recognition cameras at sensitive locations

Over 40 senior Russian security officials are already in Delhi, working closely with the NSG and Delhi Police to coordinate movements of the presidential convoy and counter any potential threat.

The multilayered security has been structured with NSG and Delhi Police handling the outer rings, Russia’s Presidential Security Service securing the inner circle, and SPG commandos joining during interactions involving Prime Minister Modi.

Aurus Senat: Putin’s armoured limousine arrives

Every venue linked to the visit including the hotel designated for Putin has undergone rigorous security inspections. Among the standout arrangements is the arrival of Putin’s state car, the heavily armoured Aurus Senat limousine, specially flown to India for the visit.

With diplomatic stakes high and security at its peak, New Delhi is fully geared to host the Russian President for a visit that may shape the next phase of India-Russia strategic ties.
