Delhi Government to Launch ‘Opportunity Handbook’ in Schools to Promote AI-Driven Innovation
Students to tackle real world challenges in pollution, climate, space, and smart mobility through AI-powered projects.
New Delhi, Dec 24 : The Delhi government is launching an “Opportunity Handbook” in government schools to expose students to real-world challenges across key sectors including pollution, climate change, space, urban logistics, and smart mobility.
Designed to move beyond textbook learning, the handbook will enable students to develop problem-solving skills by creating prototypes using artificial intelligence (AI). Officials said the initiative aims to nurture innovation at the school level and prepare students for emerging career opportunities.
“The handbook will transform classrooms into innovation hubs, encouraging students to think creatively and collaborate on solutions,” an official said. “The objective is to build a continuous pipeline of young innovators ready for the AI-driven world.”
Experts, including Group Captain Shubhanshu Shukla of the Indian Air Force, have suggested including space as a focus sector to inspire students further. The digital handbook will be available on the AI Grind website, where students can register, select their sectors of interest, and develop prototypes addressing real-world problems.
The programme, backed by industry and community partners, will roll out over six months, engaging over 5 lakh students across Delhi’s 11 districts. Students will tackle national challenges such as pollution control, smart mobility, climate action, and AI-based education solutions.
Officials said the initiative aims to produce around 1,000 prototypes, shortlist 100 finalists, and select 50 AI ambassadors from participating students. The programme is part of the broader ‘AI Grind’ movement launched by Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on December 7, aiming to link classroom learning with practical, real-life applications in an AI-powered future.
