Delhi Police Crack Case of 1,100 Fake Bomb Threats; Mysuru Man Taken into Custody
Over 1,100 fake alerts targeting courts, schools and offices traced to a single accused
New Delhi, Mar 30: In a major breakthrough, Delhi Police has apprehended a 47-year-old man from Mysuru, Karnataka, for allegedly orchestrating a large-scale hoax bomb threat campaign that targeted institutions across India.
The accused, identified as Srinivas Louis, was taken into custody from his rented residence during a coordinated operation involving Delhi Police and local authorities. Officials confirmed that the arrest followed weeks of investigation into a surge of threatening messages sent to key establishments, including courts, educational institutions and government offices.
Authorities revealed that the accused is a postgraduate and originally hails from Bengaluru. He was currently unemployed and residing with his mother, a retired government official, at the time of his arrest.
According to investigators, preliminary findings indicate that the suspect may have been dealing with psychological stress. During questioning, he reportedly admitted to sending more than 1,100 false bomb alerts through emails and other digital platforms, triggering widespread panic and security responses across multiple states.
The threats had prompted the registration of numerous FIRs nationwide, as agencies worked to trace the origin of the messages. Officials stated that further investigation is underway to determine the full extent of the network and any possible motives behind the actions.
