Delhi University Opens Direct PhD Admission Route for First FYUP Graduates

NEW DELHI, Aug 24: The University of Delhi has introduced a one-time direct admission route to PhD programmes for graduates from its first batch of four year undergraduate programmes, offering eligible students an opportunity to pursue doctoral studies without following the conventional admission route.
The provision applies to students who completed the university’s four-year undergraduate programme under the new academic framework. Eligible candidates must meet the prescribed academic requirements, including a minimum CGPA of 7.5, according to reports.
The move comes as the university prepares to transition the first cohort of students completing the four-year undergraduate structure into postgraduate and research programmes.
One-time provision for eligible graduates
The direct pathway is intended specifically for the first graduating batch under the four-year undergraduate programme. Students meeting the academic criteria will be able to seek admission to PhD programmes under the conditions prescribed by the university.
The initiative is expected to provide an early opportunity for high-performing graduates to move directly into research, while also marking an important stage in the implementation of the four-year undergraduate structure.
