Dengue Cases in Bhopal Rise as September Infections Surpass Last Year
Health officials are keeping a close watch on the mosquito-borne disease amid a rise in infections during the monsoon season.
BHOPAL, Sep 14: Bhopal has reported a rise in dengue infections this September, with confirmed cases during the first 11 days of the month already exceeding the number recorded in the corresponding period last year.
According to district health authoarities, seven dengue cases had been confirmed in Bhopal by September 11. The figures have raised concern as the city continues to experience conditions favourable for mosquito breeding during the monsoon season.
Health officials are monitoring the situation closely and have urged residents to take preventive measures to reduce exposure to mosquitoes.
Dengue is primarily transmitted through the bite of infected Aedes mosquitoes, which can breed in stagnant water around homes and other residential areas. Eliminating water-collection points and maintaining cleanliness can help reduce breeding sites.
Authorities have also stressed the importance of seeking medical attention when symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, body aches, nausea or skin rashes appear, particularly during periods of increased transmission.
The latest figures underline the need for continued surveillance and preventive action to contain the spread of the disease during the remaining monsoon period.
