98 Women Riders Embark on 1,400 km Journey from Srinagar to Pangong Tso to Test Endurance and Promote National Pride
SRINAGAR, Sept 23: The Director General of CRPF, GP Singh, on Monday flagged off the third edition of the Mahila High-Altitude Bike Expedition from the iconic Lal Chowk in Srinagar.
Organised by the Srinagar Sector of CRPF, the expedition will cover nearly 1,400 kilometres, traversing the challenging terrains from Srinagar to Pangong Tso via Khardung La (17,600 ft) and back. The participants carried the National Flag, along with the Force’s message to the nation: “Desh Ke Hum Hain Rakshak.”
This initiative is part of a series of exclusive Mahila Bike Expeditions launched by the CRPF to instill pride among women personnel and to test their physical and mental endurance. The first expedition took place in March 2023, covering Delhi to Jagdalpur, followed by the second in September 2023, which connected Srinagar, Shillong, and Kanyakumari to Kevadia.
Addressing reporters after the flag-off, DG CRPF GP Singh said, “I congratulate everyone for embarking on this high-altitude motorcycle expedition from this historical place in Kashmir. I would also like to thank the people of Kashmir for their support.”
A total of 98 women riders will participate in this journey, scheduled from September 23 to October 1. Traversing some of the toughest terrains in Ladakh and Kashmir, the expedition aims to promote courage, resilience, and teamwork among the participants.
Expressing excitement, one of the riders said, “We are looking forward to the expedition. Our objective will be to travel safely while completing this challenging journey.”
The Mahila High-Altitude Bike Expedition continues to showcase the strength and determination of CRPF’s women personnel while reinforcing the spirit of national pride.
