‘Dhurandhar’ Day 1 Morning Report: Star-Studded Cast Fails to Draw Full Houses

Despite a high-profile cast and IMAX appeal, morning shows see uneven performance across Indian cities.

Mumbai, Dec 05 : The much anticipated spy action thriller ‘Dhurandhar’, directed and co-produced by Aditya Dhar, hit theaters on 5 December 2025, and its first morning shows have recorded a mixed start. According to box office tracker Sacknilk, the film earned around ₹5.92 crore net in India across all languages on its opening day.

For standard Hindi 2D screenings, morning occupancy averaged 15.49%, with some cities performing better than others. Pune led with 20%, Chennai at 21%, Jaipur at 23%, and Hyderabad at 20%. Cities like Kolkata and Ahmedabad lagged at 11%, while Surat saw the lowest occupancy at 5%.

IMAX Shows Garner More Attention
The film’s IMAX 2D screenings drew higher interest, with a national morning occupancy of 24.82%. NCR and Ahmedabad stood out with 41% occupancy, Kolkata at 33%, Lucknow at 25%, and Mumbai at 17%.

About the Film
‘Dhurandhar’ features a star-studded ensemble including Ranveer Singh, Sanjay Dutt, Akshaye Khanna, R. Madhavan, Arjun Rampal, Sara Arjun, and Rakesh Bedi. Produced under Jio Studios and B62 Studios, the film is inspired by real-life operations carried out by RAW, including Operation Lyari targeting gangs in Karachi, Pakistan.

Principal photography ran from July 2024 to October 2025, covering locations such as Thailand, Mumbai, Punjab, and Ladakh. With a runtime of 214 minutes, ‘Dhurandhar’ is one of the longest Indian films in recent times.
