Diljit Dosanjh Supports CJP Protest, Says Students Were ‘Treated Very Wrong’
The actor-singer condemns the alleged mistreatment of protesting students over NEET issues, calls for meaningful education reforms, and says public voices deserve to be heard.
Mumbai, July 21 : Actor-singer Diljit Dosanjh has extended his support to the ongoing CJP-led protest over alleged irregularities in the NEET examination and the demand for comprehensive reforms in the education system. Speaking through a video shared on Instagram on Tuesday, the popular artist expressed concern over the treatment of students participating in the demonstrations and appealed to the authorities to address their grievances.
In the video, Dosanjh said it was disappointing to see students being handled in what he described as an unfair manner. Stressing that young people deserve respect and a fair hearing, he urged decision makers to engage with the protesters instead of ignoring their concerns.
“The voice of the people is the voice of God,” Dosanjh remarked, emphasizing that public opinion should not be dismissed, particularly when students are raising issues that directly affect their future.
The actor also acknowledged that his comments could once again attract criticism. He said he expected some people to brand him “anti-national” for expressing support for the protesters, recalling that he had faced similar reactions during the nationwide farmers’ protest.
Reflecting on that period, Dosanjh stated that he endured significant backlash and legal challenges after publicly supporting farmers. He added that there were several aspects of those experiences that he was still unable to discuss openly.
Despite anticipating criticism, the singer maintained that he would continue speaking on issues he believes are important. He concluded his message by expressing faith that truth would ultimately prevail, saying that God is watching over everyone and blessing all people.
The ongoing CJP protest has drawn attention from several public figures and student groups demanding greater transparency in competitive examinations and broader reforms to strengthen confidence in the country’s education system.
