Dinesh Sharma to Be Sworn In as Andaman and Nicobar Lieutenant Governor on September 15
Former Uttar Pradesh deputy chief minister to succeed D K Joshi as the Union Territory’s administrator
UP , Sept 14: Former Uttar Pradesh deputy Chief Minister Dinesh Sharma will take oath as the Lieutenant Governor of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands on Tuesday.
The oath taking ceremony will be held at Lok Niwas in Sri Vijaya Puram, where Chief Justice of the Calcutta High Court, Justice Ravindra Vithalrao Ghuge, will administer the oath of office to Sharma.
Sharma arrived in the Union Territory on Sunday with his wife, Jai Lakshmi Sharma. He was received at Veer Savarkar International Airport by Andaman and Nicobar MP Bishnu Pada Ray, Chief Secretary Gyanesh Bharti and senior administrative officials.
Sharma has held several important portfolios during his tenure in the Uttar Pradesh government, including higher and secondary education, science and technology, and electronics and information technology.
He was elected to the Rajya Sabha in 2023 and has remained active in public life at both the state and national levels.
With his appointment, Sharma will succeed D K Joshi, who has served as Lieutenant Governor of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands since October 8, 2017.
