SRINAGAR, APRIL 22: The Director Agriculture Kashmir, Chowdhary Mohammad Iqbal today inaugurated a two-day training program for officers/ officials of different districts on Enforcement of Seeds/Fertilizers/Pesticides and Mushroom cultivation at Lalmandi, here.
While addressing the participants of the training program, the Director reiterated the importance of upholding the different provisions of the Seed Act, Insecticide Act, and Fertilizer Control Order while dealing with the situation on the ground. He asked the officers to ensure a zero-tolerance policy of the Department against spurious pesticides and fertilizers.
He said that to ensure the availability of quality seeds and standard fertilizers, pesticides to the farmers is the moral professional duty of every officer/official working on the field. He said the successful agriculture sector could be expected only when the quality plant material is made available to the farming community.
Director Agriculture asked the participants of the training program coming from different agencies, to work in close coordination with the Enforcement Wing of the Department so that the farmers’ interests could be safeguarded at all the levels in a positive and comprehensive manner.
Earlier, Joint Director Extension Mohammad Qasim Gani presented a detailed overview of the different training sessions.
Joint Director Apiculture and Mushroom, Joint Director Inputs/PHM and Marketing, Deputy Director FTEC Ganderbal, Assistant Director Enforcement, Training Officer, and other senior officers of the department were also present on the occasion.
