Div Com Jammu, Dr. Raghav Langer visits Katra, meets several delegations

Directs to increase vaccination sites, scale up testing to achieve desired results

JAMMU, APRIL 23: Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Dr. Raghav Langer today conducted an extensive tour of Katra town of district Reasi and chaired a meeting to review the covid control measures being put in by the district administration to contain the spread of the novel infection.

Deputy Commissioner Reasi, Ajay Kumar Sharma; SSP Reasi, Shalinder Singh; SP Katra, SDM Katra, Chief Medical Officer, and other sectoral officers, besides chairman Municipal Committee Katra, Members of Hotel & Restaurant Association, Market Associations and prominent citizens were present in the meeting.

The Div Com had threadbare discussions on the issues pertaining to testing, vaccination, enforcement of SOPs, and other control measures to combat the spread of Covid-19.

The members of the Municipal Committee, traders’ Associations also gave their valuable suggestions for effectively combating the covid spread in the Katra, which is a hub of tourism.

It was informed in the meeting that all the incoming pilgrims are being tested at Katra Bus Stand, Railway Station, and other testing sites.

The Div Com asked the concerned to increase testing sites for   100 percent testing of travelers, pilgrims, and target groups.   He also gave directions for increasing vaccination sites to inoculate the maximum targeted population in the holy Township.

The members of associations also projected demands and issues regarding developmental projects needed for the overall development of the town and to make it a vibrant tourism hub. The demands included construction of the Ropeway Project at Shiv Khori, Helicopter service from Katra to Shiv Khori, Sound & Light show, and other such projects.

The Div Com assured that all their genuine demands would be redressed on priority.

Meanwhile, the Divisional Commissioner also visited the Community Health Centre and inspected the arrangements being put in place for the management and treatment of Covid-19 patients.

The Div Com took a round of various wards and interacted with doctors and paramedical staff on duty. He inquired about the facilities being provided to the patients there. It was informed that there are 20 beds reserved for covid patients.

The Div Com directed the hospital authorities to augment the existing bed capacity for efficient management of Covid patients.

Later, the Div Com took a round of Katra market and reviewed the implementation of fresh guidelines issued by the government. He observed that the shops were operating according to the roaster issued by the district administration and people were following SOPs like wearing face masks.

The Div Com asked the district administration and heads of traders’ unions to sensitize the public about the Covid appropriate behaviour and follow all the covid related SOPs which was imperative for breaking the transmission chain of the virus.
