Doda Police Appeals to Public to Fight Fake News and Misinformation
Doda SSP Issues Advisory on Responsible Social Media Use to Curb Fake News
Doda, Sep 15: Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Sandeep Mehta has urged residents of Doda to exercise caution while using social media, amid growing concerns over the spread of misinformation. The SSP emphasized that sharing fake news, old videos, hate speeches, or content that incites criminal activity or public unrest is a serious offense and can attract legal action under the Information Technology Act and the Indian Penal Code.
Referencing a previous directive from the District Magistrate (Order No. 3471-74/DM Doda dated 03.09.2025), the SSP stressed the need for responsible online behavior. Citizens are advised to verify information before sharing or forwarding it and report misleading or inflammatory content to local police stations or through official helplines.
The Doda Police reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining peace in the district and called upon the public to cooperate in combating misinformation and rumors.
