Dogra Sadar Sabha Pays Heartfelt Tributes to Late Thakur Gulchain Singh Charak in Solemn Shok Sabha

Dogra Sadar Sabha Mourns Irreparable Loss of Visionary Leader and Heritage Advocate Th. Gulchain Singh Charak

Jammu, October 21: The Dogra Sadar Sabha (DSS) held a solemn Shok Sabha and Shardhanjali Meet to pay rich tributes to its late President, Thakur Gulchain Singh Charak, who passed away on October 17, 2025, after a brief illness. The gathering was marked by deep emotions and heartfelt recollections of his towering contributions to the Dogra community, Jammu and Kashmir, and the nation at large.

Th. Charak, a revered leader and ardent believer in Dogriyat, secularism, and communal harmony, devoted his life to promoting the cause of the Dogras and strengthening inter-community unity. He was remembered as a fearless leader, compassionate philanthropist, and a passionate advocate of education and heritage preservation. His untiring efforts for the revival of Dogra heritage sites, empowerment of grassroots leadership, and the welfare of Numberdars, Chowkidars, and the underprivileged population of Ramban and border areas were deeply acknowledged during the meet.

Speakers highlighted that Th. Charak’s passing leaves an irreplaceable void in the socio-cultural and political landscape of Jammu and Kashmir. A dynamic personality, he served the region in several key capacities as Minister for Education and Roads & Buildings (PWD), Member of Legislative Council, General Secretary of the AICC, President of the Rajput Sabha, Chairman of Dogra Educational Trust, President of Laxmi Narayan Mandir Management Trust, Patron of Akhil Bhartiya Kshatriya Mahasabha, and ultimately as President of the Dogra Sadar Sabha. In every role, he remained steadfast in his mission to uplift society, promote Dogra identity, and ensure inclusive development.

The late leader’s cheerful and affectionate nature and his unwavering willingness to help others without discrimination made him beloved among people from all walks of life. He was described as a man of integrity and compassion, who inspired generations through his simplicity and commitment to public service.

The Shardhanjali Sabha witnessed participation from a cross-section of society including prominent politicians, educationists, retired officers, social activists, and cultural figures. Among those who spoke were Col. Karan Singh, Adv. H.C. Jalmeria, G.A. Khwaja, Arvinder Singh Amn, Col. Virendra K. Sahi (VrC), Prem Sagar Gupta, H.A. Siddiqui, Abdul Majid, Dr. S.P. Verma, Lt. Gen. Rakesh Sharma, Brig. Vijay Sagar Dhiman, Jagmohan Sharma, Madan Rangeela, and J.S. Babli, who shared heartfelt anecdotes of his life and work.

Others who attended the gathering included Maj. Gen. Sunita Kapoor, Jagdeep Singh, Chhankar Singh, Mrs. Lalita Tapasvi, Rajinder Gupta, Dr. Kamal Sharma, Ms. Katoch, Dr. G.S. Charak, Ehtsham-ul-Haq, Sandesh Vir, Mohd Shabir, Krishan Kumar Farid Khan, Rashid Ahmed, Arun Bakshi, Shankar Singh, Raman Kant Singh, Pawan Sharma, Kuldeep Wahi, Harbans Sharma, Narinder Singh, and Ravi Singh Slathia, among others.

The attendees unanimously resolved to carry forward Th. Charak’s legacy by continuing his mission of promoting Dogra culture, education, and social harmony. The Sabha also observed a two-minute silence as a mark of respect to the departed soul, with many describing him as “a guiding light whose ideals will forever inspire the Dogra community.”
