DPAP Vows Comprehensive Development for Marwah and Warwan if Elected to Power,Ghulam Nabi Azad’s Pledge for Transformation
25-08-2023 : Ghulam Nabi Azad, the Chairman of the Democratic Progressive Azad Party (DPAP), has offered a promising vision for the underdeveloped regions of Marwah and Warwan. During his four-day tour of these remote areas in Kishtwar district, Azad extended his assurance that if DPAP were to come into power, it would embark on a comprehensive developmental journey to uplift these long-neglected regions. These areas had languished without adequate attention from successive governments following Azad’s own tenure as the Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir.
Speaking at a series of public gatherings where he received an enthusiastic reception from the local residents, Azad pledged to oversee the construction of tunnels connecting Marwah and Warwan to Kashmir, thereby addressing the isolation that these villages often face due to geographical constraints. He further committed to bolstering electricity and mobile connectivity in these remote areas, which are often cut off from the rest of the country for extended periods of time.
Azad criticized the history of neglect by successive governments, particularly regarding the remotest parts of Kishtwar. He assured the people that, if DPAP secured power, it would allocate resources for the creation of two additional blocks and Higher Secondary schools for Deharna, Changer, and Gumri. Highlighting the untapped potential of the picturesque Marwah and Warwan valleys, Azad envisioned the promotion of tourism to generate employment opportunities for the local youth. The proposed tunnels, in his view, would facilitate year-round accessibility to Kashmir, opening up opportunities for tourism.
In an effort to address the issues of unemployment among the youth in Marwah and Warwan, Azad also pledged to conduct a specialized police recruitment drive for these regions. He expressed astonishment that despite being in the 21st century, Marwah, Warwan, and other remote areas continue to lack basic amenities like electricity, mobile connectivity, roads, and bridges. Azad criticized the status quo, pointing out that development plans often remain confined to paper and power corridors, with little impact on the ground.
Azad’s commitment to these regions was underscored by his past efforts, as recalled by the residents of Sukhnai in Warwan. During his tenure as a Rajya Sabha MP, he had facilitated assistance for 120 families affected by a devastating fire in 2016.
Throughout his tour, Azad was accompanied by key members of the DPAP leadership, including Vice-Chairman GM Saroori, General Secretary Chaudhary Haroon Khatana, Chief Spokesperson Salman Nizami, Provincial General Secretary Shafiq Shabnam, District President Shabir Lone, Spokesperson Shariq Saroori, Block President Marwah Ghulam Mohd Wani, and Block President Warwan Gh Rasool Wani. This collective effort symbolized the DPAP’s commitment to addressing the pressing issues faced by the residents of these underdeveloped areas in Kishtwar district.
