Dr Andrabi inaugurates Waqf Board sports facility in Doda, lays foundation for guest house

Jammu, 25-04-2026: Chairperson of the Jammu & Kashmir Waqf Board, Dr. Syed Darakhshan Andrabi, today visited Doda and participated in a grand event organised by the Board. BJP General Secretary (Organisation) Ashok Koul attended the function as the Guest of Honour.Eminent civil society members and Waqf Board officials, including Special Officer Dr. Bashir Ahmad Bhat, Administrator Jammu Aabid Hussain, and Executive Officer Waqf Board Doda Hani Javed Zargar, were also present on the occasion.

During the visit, Dr. Andrabi dedicated to the public the first-ever Multi-Utility Sports Stadium-cum-Recreational Facility established by the Waqf Board in Doda. Equipped with high-quality turf and modern recreational facilities, the stadium is among the most advanced of its kind in Jammu and Kashmir.

Addressing the gathering, Dr. Andrabi said that the Waqf Board is now prioritising public welfare initiatives across the Union Territory. “This year will mark the expansion of the Board’s developmental vision into key public welfare sectors. This sports facility will provide significant opportunities for the youth and local population, and we are pleased to see the positive response from the community,” she said.

She also laid the foundation stone for a Guest House to be constructed by the Board in the town. Later, accompanied by Ashok Koul and other dignitaries, Dr. Andrabi discussed the ongoing Nasha Mukti Abhiyan being implemented by the Board across Jammu and Kashmir.

Speaking on the occasion, Ashok Koul appreciated the developmental initiatives undertaken by the Waqf Board under Dr. Andrabi’s leadership. He described the transformation of the Board over the past four years as historic and lauded its commitment to utilising resources for public welfare.He also commended the anti-drug campaign launched by the Board, stating that it has emerged as a significant initiative in the broader fight against drug abuse in the region.
