Dr. Farooq calls for Unity among Muslims amid rising West Asia tensions

Says current crisis facing Muslim world direct consequence of disunity

Srinagar, 27 Mar: The Jammu and Kashmir National Conference President Dr Farooq Abdullah Friday said that disunity among nations often leads to decline and destruction, warning that the current crisis facing the Muslim world is a direct consequence of the lack of unity.

Addressing a gathering in Beerwah, Budgam Dr. Farooq said that the world, particularly the Muslim Ummah, is passing through a deeply challenging and turbulent phase.

He expressed grave concern over the worsening situation in West Asia where escalating tensions have led to killing of thousands of innocent people and also severely impacted economic stability, disrupted trade and commerce and intensified uncertainty in the region.

He attributed the prevailing situation to what he described as expansionist policies pursued by Israel and the United States, along with an increasingly hostile environment directed against Iran.

Dr. Farooq emphasized that had Muslim countries maintained unity, consensus and collective resolve, external powers would not have been able to assert dominance over them. He called for greater solidarity among Muslim nations, urging them to formulate a cohesive strategy to counter forces exploiting internal divisions.

Providing historical context, he referred to developments in Palestine, stating that the roots of the conflict date back to the early 20th century. He remarked that despite agreements recognizing Palestinian rights, continued oppression and violence have led to immense human suffering over decades. He stressed that a united Muslim world could have significantly altered the course of events in the region.

Highlighting broader global concerns, Dr. Farooq said that lasting peace can only be achieved by dismantling divisions, ensuring justice for the oppressed and promoting mutual understanding among nations.

In his concluding remarks, he advised party office-bearers and workers to remain committed to public service, urging them to empathize with the people, actively address their grievances, and work tirelessly for their welfare.

Meanwhile, Dr. Farooq visited Kandhama in Beerwah to offer condolences to the family of the late educationist and social figure Ghulam Mustafa Matoo. He prayed for the departed soul and expressed solidarity with the bereaved family.

Earlier Dr Farooq offered Friday congregational prayers at Asar-e-Sharief dargah hazratbal. He prayed for peace and communal amity in the country particularly in J&K.
