Dr. Jitendra Singh Lauds PM Modi’s Empowerment Initiatives for Gujjar Community in Jammu and Kashmir, Highlights Transformative Development in Kishtwar Region
Kishtwar, 26-03-2024 : During a public rally held in the picturesque locale of Mughal Maidan, situated along the banks of the river Chenab in Kishtwar district, Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh, also the BJP Candidate for Udhampur Lok Sabha constituency, extolled Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s commitment to uplifting the Gujjar community in Jammu and Kashmir. Singh asserted that unlike previous Congress-led administrations, which exploited the Gujjar community for electoral gains, Prime Minister Modi has prioritized their welfare, granting them political representation and according them the dignity they deserve.
Dr. Singh commended the Gujjar community members for their active participation in the rally, acknowledging their vibrant presence that added vibrancy to the event. He contrasted the neglect suffered by the community under previous Congress regimes with the proactive measures initiated by the Modi government, particularly highlighting the provision of concrete housing for every household, irrespective of caste, creed, or religion. This initiative has transformed the lives of many Gujjar families who previously lived in makeshift shelters, now proud owners of their own homes.
Turning his attention to the broader Kishtwar region, Dr. Jitendra Singh lauded its remarkable transformation into North India’s power hub over the past decade. He highlighted the ambitious projects underway, set to significantly augment the region’s power generation capacity. Among these projects, the Pakal Dul Hydroelectric project stands out as the largest, with a capacity of 1000 MW, slated for completion by 2025. Other notable endeavors include the Kiru Hydroelectric project (624 MW) and the revival of the Ratle project (850 MW) through a joint venture between the central government and the UT of Jammu and Kashmir.
Furthermore, Dr. Singh underscored the socioeconomic benefits accompanying these projects, emphasizing the employment opportunities and economic growth they would catalyze for the local populace. He lamented the decades-long neglect suffered by Kishtwar due to divisive vote-bank politics, expressing gratitude to Prime Minister Modi for ushering in a paradigm shift in governance, wherein all neglected regions receive their due attention and priority.
Dr. Singh cited concrete examples of this paradigm shift, such as the establishment of a Degree college in Paddar under the RUSA scheme and the transformative improvements in road connectivity, reducing travel time from Jammu to Kishtwar from over 7 hours to less than 5 hours. Additionally, he highlighted Kishtwar’s newfound status on India’s aviation map, with the sanctioning of an airport under the UDAAN Scheme. The minister also noted the development of new national highways, educational institutions, and infrastructure projects, which have bolstered the region’s development trajectory under the Modi government.
Regarding Machail, Dr. Jitendra Singh outlined the comprehensive development initiatives undertaken since 2014, including the installation of mobile towers, construction of toilet complexes, and the ongoing construction of a motorable road to facilitate easier access. He expressed optimism about the region’s burgeoning potential, underlining the government’s commitment to ensuring swift and inclusive development across all sectors.
