England Leave Brydon Carse Out of Squad for Final Pakistan Test
The hosts name a 15-member squad for the Edgbaston clash as they target a series whitewash after taking an unassailable 2-0 lead.
LONDON, Sep 2: England have left fast bowler Brydon Carse out of their squad for the third and final Test against Pakistan, with the series already secured after two convincing victories.
Carse, who also missed the second Test, remains absent from the 15-member squad announced for the match at Edgbaston, which begins on September 9. Sonny Baker retains his place after being brought into the group for the previous Test.
England have dominated the three-match series so far. They won the opening Test at Headingley by an innings and 103 runs before completing a 194-run victory at Lord’s, giving them an unassailable 2-0 advantage.
The team will now aim to complete a clean sweep in the final encounter, while captain Joe Root leads a squad that includes Jofra Archer, Ollie Pope and Harry Brook.
Carse’s continued omission comes as he remains under investigation by Derbyshire Police following an incident outside a nightclub in Derby. He had initially been left out of England’s squad for the second Test after the incident.
The final match provides England with an opportunity to complete a comprehensive series victory, while Pakistan will look to salvage a result and avoid a 3-0 defeat.
