EOW Kashmir Chargesheets TDPI Director in Multi-Crore Recruitment Fraud, Students Defrauded
Ranjeet Prasad booked under Sections 420 and 120-B IPC for defrauding 1,300 trainees in Kashmir; chargesheet filed in absentia
Srinagar, Dec 30: In a major crackdown on financial fraud, the Economic Offences Wing (EOW) Kashmir has filed a chargesheet against Ranjeet Prasad, Director of True Dreams Project India Pvt. Ltd. (TDPI), over a multi-crore recruitment scam that allegedly cheated hundreds of youths in Kashmir.
The chargesheet, filed before the Court of Sub-Judge, Sumbal, pertains to FIR No. 04/2022 under Sections 420 and 120-B of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). It comes after an investigation revealed large-scale deception in the company’s recruitment campaign.
According to the complaint, TDPI engaged around 1,300 trainees in Kashmir, promising salaries of Rs. 5,000 to Rs. 12,000 per month. Instead, the trainees were required to pay a registration fee of Rs. 2,400, and no salaries were subsequently paid.
The investigation established that several students were cheated under the pretext of tuition and employment opportunities. Based on oral and documentary evidence, offences under Sections 420 (cheating) and 120-B (criminal conspiracy) IPC were confirmed against the accused.
As Prasad failed to cooperate with the investigation and could not be traced at the given address, the chargesheet has been filed in absentia under Section 512 CrPC. The case marks a significant step in protecting students from fraudulent employment schemes in the region.
