Epstein Files Released DOJ Labels Larry Nassar Letter ‘Fake’

Some files contain unverified claims against Trump; DOJ emphasizes transparency while protecting victims’ identities

Washington, Dec 24: The United States Department of Justice (DOJ) on Tuesday released nearly 30,000 pages of documents related to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, including a 2021 subpoena to the Mar-a-Lago Club and materials concerning Epstein’s former associate Ghislaine Maxwell.

The DOJ noted that some of the documents contain “untrue and sensationalist” claims against former President Donald Trump, which were submitted to the FBI shortly before the 2020 election. According to the department, these claims are unfounded and false.

Among the released files was a letter allegedly from Epstein to convicted sex offender Larry Nassar, dated the same month Epstein died by suicide in 2019. The letter referenced Trump indirectly as “our president.” However, the DOJ stated that the FBI confirmed the letter is fake, citing discrepancies in handwriting, postmark date, and return address.

“The fake letter serves as a reminder that just because a document is released by the Department of Justice does not make the allegations or claims within factual,” the DOJ emphasized, adding that all legally required material will continue to be released while safeguarding Epstein’s victims.

The Epstein Files include names, photographs, correspondence, and other records connected to Epstein’s sex trafficking of minors case. The release underscores the department’s commitment to legal transparency while cautioning the public about unverified or fraudulent claims.
