European Union Approves New Artificial Intelligence Transparency Rules

Technology companies required to disclose AI-generated content under updated digital regulations

Brussels, Apr 30: The European Union has approved a new set of transparency regulations aimed at governing the use of artificial intelligence across digital platforms and technology services.

Under the updated framework, companies developing AI tools will be required to clearly identify machine-generated content, including text, audio, and visual material. The move is intended to combat misinformation and improve digital accountability.

European lawmakers said the regulations would help build public trust in emerging technologies while protecting users from deceptive online practices.

The rules also include stricter obligations for high risk AI systems used in healthcare, education, law enforcement, and employment sectors. Developers may face penalties for non-compliance.

Technology firms operating across Europe are now expected to update their policies and introduce transparency mechanisms before the regulations fully come into effect.
