Indian Embassy extends support to bereaved family, three injured Indian nationals remain in intensive care as Saudi Arabia blames Houthis for the deadly strike.

DUBAI, Oct 12: The family of Mohammed Yousuf Ali, an Indian national killed in an attack on Saudi Arabia’s King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, has decided to conduct his funeral in the Saudi capital, the Indian Embassy said on Monday.

Ali lost his life in the October 10 attack, which reportedly claimed several lives and left around 300 people injured, including 10 Indian nationals.

Saudi Arabia has blamed Yemen’s Houthi rebels for the incident.

In a post on social media, the Indian Embassy said Ali’s family had opted to hold the funeral in Riyadh. The mission added that it was extending all possible assistance to the bereaved family, including completing the necessary formalities for the last rites.

Meanwhile, Indian diplomatic officials visited hospitals to assess the condition of nationals injured in the attack and enquire about their treatment.

According to the embassy, three Indians continued to remain in intensive care, while two others had subsequently been admitted to the ICU. Two injured nationals were being treated in regular hospital wards, while the remaining patients had been discharged.

The Indian mission said it was maintaining regular contact with the families of those affected and providing assistance wherever required.

The attack also claimed the lives of four Saudi nationals, two Bangladeshi citizens and one citizen each from Palestine, the United States, Egypt, Jordan, Syria and Sudan.

India had strongly condemned the attack on Sunday, expressing concern over the targeting of civilians and civilian infrastructure in Saudi Arabia.

New Delhi described the repeated attacks as completely unacceptable and called for an immediate end to such incidents.

Amid the security concerns, the Indian Embassy reiterated its advisory urging Indian nationals residing in Saudi Arabia to remain alert, exercise caution and follow instructions issued by local authorities. It also advised them to stay indoors whenever necessary.

The mission said it would continue to coordinate with the relevant authorities and provide support to affected Indian citizens and their families.
