Farhan Akhtar’s Family Driver Booked for ₹12 Lakh Fraud, Misuses Actor’s Cards for Personal Gain
Farhan Akhtar’s Family Driver Booked for ₹12 Lakh Fraud Using Actor’s Fuel Cards
Mumbai, Oct 4: Police have registered a case against Naresh Singh, the driver of actor Farhan Akhtar’s mother, Honey Irani, and a petrol pump employee, Arun Singh, for allegedly defrauding the family of ₹12 lakh. The accused misused Akhtar’s fuel cards to pocket cash while claiming to refill cars.
Fraud Uncovered:
The case came to light on October 1 when Irani’s manager, Diya Bhatia, noticed discrepancies in fuel records. A Maruti car with a diesel capacity of 35 liters was recorded as having received 621 liters. Upon questioning, Naresh Singh gave inconsistent answers. Further checks revealed that Singh had used three cards registered under Akhtar’s name and even purchased oil for a car sold seven years ago. Singh eventually admitted to the fraud during a meeting with Irani.
How the Scheme Worked:
Singh reportedly obtained the cards in 2022 from Akhtar’s former driver, Santosh Kumar. He allegedly swiped the cards at a petrol pump near Bandra Lake without actually filling fuel, receiving cash from the pump employee after deductions of ₹1,000-1,500.
Legal Action:
A case has been registered under Sections 318 (criminal breach of trust), 418 (cheating), and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Police continue to investigate the extent of the fraud.
