Washington, Nov 6 : FIFA has unveiled the “FIFA Peace Prize Football Unites the World”, a prestigious new award recognizing individuals whose extraordinary efforts for peace have united people across nations through the power of football.
According to FIFA, the prize celebrates those who embody the spirit of the sport by connecting girls and boys, women and men, through passion, joy, and hope. “The award will honor special achievements that reflect FIFA’s motto: Football Unites the World,” the football governing body stated.
FIFA President Gianni Infantino will present the inaugural prize on December 5, 2025, during the final draw for the 2026 FIFA World Cup in Washington, United States.
“In a world that is increasingly unsettled and divided, it is crucial to acknowledge the contributions of those who work tirelessly to end conflicts and foster unity,” Infantino said. “Football stands for peace, and this award will celebrate the remarkable efforts of individuals bringing people together, inspiring hope for future generations.”
