Five Indians Hurt in Abu Dhabi After Missile Debris Fallout Amid Iran Strike

Air defence systems intercept ballistic missile; falling fragments cause minor to moderate injuries

New Delhi, Mar 28: Five Indian nationals were injured after debris from a ballistic missile fell in Abu Dhabi following an aerial interception, authorities confirmed on Saturday.

According to an official statement, the incident occurred near the Khalifa Economic Zones Abu Dhabi (KEZAD), where fragments from the intercepted missile landed, resulting in injuries to the individuals. Officials stated that the injuries ranged from minor to moderate.

The authorities said the casualties were reported after air defence systems successfully intercepted the incoming ballistic missile, preventing further damage. However, falling debris from the interception led to the injuries on the ground.

Emergency services responded promptly, providing medical assistance to those affected. Officials are continuing to monitor the situation and assess any additional impact in the surrounding area.

The incident highlights the risks posed by falling debris even when missile threats are neutralised mid-air.
