Four Killed in Series of Shooting Incidents Across Karachi
Six separate attacks, including target killings and robbery-related shootings, rock the city within hours
Karachi, Oct 5: At least four people were killed in six separate shooting incidents across Karachi over a three-hour period on Saturday, according to ARY News.
In Orangi Town, a shopkeeper was shot dead while resisting a robbery at an LPG shop under the jurisdiction of Iqbal Market police station. During the confrontation, the shopkeeper snatched a firearm from a robber and opened fire, killing the assailant, identified as Rahim, while his accomplice escaped. Police said the deceased robber had a criminal record that included multiple cases of murder and robbery.
In Landhi’s Sherpao Colony, a man riding a motorcycle was chased and fatally shot in the head by two unidentified assailants. Police suspect it was a targeted killing, and investigations are ongoing.
Another incident in Bakra Piri, Malir, saw an extortionist killed in a police encounter. The accused, Ghulam Qadir, allegedly involved in a gang-war linked to the Samad Kathiwari network, had previously opened fire on a builder’s shop. Police recovered weapons and mobile devices used in the extortion.
Separately, police personnel were injured during a shootout with robbers in New Karachi, while a suspect was taken into custody after an encounter in Ferozabad. In North Nazimabad, citizens handed over an alleged robber to police after apprehending him.
Additional incidents included a woman killed by a stray bullet near Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC), and a passerby, Abdul Razzaq, sustained injuries from the gunfire. Authorities are actively searching for the suspects in both cases.
In a tragic unrelated event, a three-year-old girl drowned in a water pail in F.B Area Block 14. Police are investigating whether the incident was accidental or deliberate.
The spate of shootings has raised concerns over public safety, and law enforcement agencies have intensified efforts to apprehend the perpetrators.
