From IT Professional to Beauty Pageant Winner: Minali Sehdev’s Journey

10-05-2023 : An event was recently held at the Rajkuteer Hotel in Kolkata, which brought together 40 participants from all over India, including doctors, entrepreneurs, homemakers, and teachers. The event was a beauty pageant, and Minali Sehdev emerged as the winner, which was her first time participating in such a competition.

Minali has been fortunate to work in various industries over the years. She started her career as an IT professional, having completed her MCA degree in Bangalore. Later, she moved to Kolkata and took the bold step of starting a new career as a Radio Jockey with FM Rainbow and FM Gold. She then worked as a TV anchor and actor with Doordarshan National TV. Her experience in the television industry also involved scriptwriting and dialog direction for several Doordarshan shows. She later found her way to the world of films, where she worked as a look and costume designer for many big names in Tollywood, such as Parambrata Chakrabarti and Apu Biswas, among others.

 

During the COVID-19 pandemic, Minali found the time to write, and her work has been recognized with several awards. She wrote in many anthologies and solo books, including “Shades of Pregnancy,” which is on the awareness of pregnancy loss and miscarriage. Additionally, Minali has always been passionate about keeping the mental health of our society in check. Thus, she earned three certifications in general counseling, marriage and relationship counseling, and child psychology. Mental health remained her top priority in the pageant she recently won.

Minali also shared her love for music, as she is a singer who has sung many Dogri songs written by her father, Jagdish Sehdev. Through her singing, she hopes to keep her culture alive.
