Ganderbal Encounter: LG Manoj Sinha Orders Magisterial Inquiry into Arhama Incident
Probe to review circumstances of Arhama operation; report to be submitted within fixed timeframe
Srinagar, Apr 2: Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha has directed a comprehensive magisterial probe into the recent encounter reported in the Arhama locality of Ganderbal district.
The inquiry aims to closely examine the sequence of events and all related aspects of the operation to establish facts and ensure accountability. Authorities have been instructed to carry out the investigation in a fair and transparent manner.
Announcing the decision on X, the Lieutenant Governor stated that the probe would assess every detail linked to the incident and ensure that justice is delivered.
The encounter, which occurred on April 1, resulted in the death of a local resident identified as Raashid Ahmad Mughal.
Officials further confirmed that the inquiry has been assigned a defined timeline, with directions to submit its findings to the Home Department upon completion.
