GCOE Jammu in collaboration with Art of Living organized ‘Har Ghar Dhyan’ workshop

19-06-2023 : Govt. College of Education, Jammu in collaboration with Art of Living organized ‘Har Ghar Dhyan’ workshop under the patronage of Principal, Prof Aekta Gupta and the supervision of NSS Program Officer Dr Shubhra Jamwal in which scores of faculties, non-teaching staff, and Students participated .
The Union Ministry of Culture has collaborated with Art of Living to reach out to the masses and youth to educate them about mental health and empower them with the tool of meditation for better health. The project was launched on 26th October 2022 at the international headquarters of the Art of Living at Bangalore and done more than 10000 meditation sessions date across the country. The Art of Living Foundation is a volunteer-based, humanitarian and educational non-governmental organization (NGO) having its centers at 180 countries. It was founded in 1981 by Gurudev Shri Shri Ravi Shankar. Under the banner of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav,. This scheme puts into action the Jan-Bhagidari model to empower the youth towards better health and create a more resilient future for the country.
The Har Ghar Dhyan meditation Session started under the patronage of Principal, Prof Aekta Gupta. Resource Persons Mr. Ajay Kapoor, State Coordinator Art of Living- Bureau of Communications and Projects, and Mr. Shakti Sagar, senior faculty and DTC both fromThe Art of Living Jammu Kashmir and Ladakh Chapter with the lighting of the lamp by Principal, resource persons, senior Faculty of GCOE present on the occasion, Followed by the welcome address by Prof Aekta Gupta, Principal GCOE in which she explained such sessions and practices are need of the hour for all. She talked about upcoming programmes in GCOE onset of International yoga day, national directives, and guidelines to work seriously on the stress of students and faculties.
The resource persons for the workshop were Mr. Shakti Sagar, senior faculty and DTC, The Art of Living Jammu Kashmir and Ladakh Chapter & Mr. Ajay Kapoor, State coordinator, Art of Living Bureau of Communications and Projects the Art of Living Jammu Kashmir and Ladakh Chapter.  Shakti Sagar very beautifully explained how the change in lifestyle adopting meditation, pranayama, and stress relieving kriyas help in boosting immunity and health, relieve stress, anxiety and depression, and has the ability to manage our mind, increase Stamina to work relentlessly for longer durations due to such nature of their job. He conducted pranayama and short but powerful meditation sessions for faculty members and Students. The students and faculty members felt very relaxed and positive after the meditation session and shared it. The practice of meditation is to maintain mental hygiene,  A calm mind, focused attention, good concentration, improved communication skills, unshakeable inner strength, healing powers, relaxation, rejuvenation, and better sleep quality are the natural effects of meditation practice said Mr. Ajay Kapoor in concluding session. A Q and A session was also conducted for participants.
The NSS  volunteers and faculty members which included Prof. Sarita Dogra, Prof. Shapira Shameem, Prof. Neeraj Verma, Prof. Seema Kumari, Prof. Vinay lata, Prof. Anuradha, Dr. Anuradha Seth,  Prof. Satish, Prof. Shambunath, Dr. Rajinder Kour, Prof. Radhika Mahajan, Prof. Sunita Saryara and non-teaching staff actively participated in the yoga meditation interactive session.
