GCOE organized Demonstration-cum-Awareness programme on Disaster Management

20-04-2023 : NSS unit of Govt. College of Education, Jammu in collaboration with State Disaster Response Force organised a demonstration-cum-awareness programme on Disaster Management and Safety measures under the patronage of Prof. Aekta Gupta, Principal, GCOE. The awareness program offered a platform to all students and faculty of the college to get aware about the latest technology being used in Disaster Management, advance equipment and to share their best practices. Prof. Aekta Gupta said the goal of this program was to mitigate the risk of natural disasters that has the potential to result in property damage and personal injury.

Speaking on the occasion, Dy.SP Arvinder Kotwal said that it is not a hidden fact that Jammu and Kashmir is prone to natural disasters like earthquakes, floods, landslides and snowstorms. Every year J&K faces several deaths and destruction by the impact of natural disaters or extreme weather conditions. Dr. Shubhra Jamwal, NSS PO thanked the skilled team of SDRF on behalf of GCOE, Jammu for imparting the knowledge about the same to staff and students. Sh. Sudershan Sharma, Sh. Sunil Sharma, Sh.Vikas Sharma elaborated that the colleges takes these kinds of emergencies on a serious note and is all prepared for such situations. Mock Drill with first aid methods was also performed in the college premises in order to create awareness among the students and staff during any disaster. The programme was attended by the students and faculty members Prof. Anju Bala, Dr. Shalini Rana,Dr. Shalini Sharma,Prof. Sarita Dogra, Prof. Shapia Shameem, Prof. Neeraj Verma and Prof. Seema Kumari, Prof. Sunita Devi, Prof. Vinay Lata, and non-teaching staff of the college also attended the program.
