GDC Ramnagar, organises one day Symposium and Slogan Writing on Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan on the theme “Our Choice is Drug Free World”

09-08-2023 : Govt. Degree College Ramnagar, Cultural and Debate & Symposium committee in collaboration with NCORD committee GDC Ramnagar conducted a one-day programme on the theme “Our Choice is Drug Free World” as the part of “Meri Matti, Mera Desh” programme initiated by the District Administration, Udhampur. The symposium aimed to address the pressing issue of substance abuse and its impact on the society especially youth. The aim of Slogan Writing competition was to empower students and the community with knowledge, awareness, and tools to make informed decision and lead drug free lives.

The programme was commenced by Principal, Dr. Bhavnaish Chand by sharing his views on drug menace prevailing in the world. He iterated Drug abuse is a global concern with serious physical, mental, and societal repercussions. Prevention, education, and accessible treatment are vital to combat this complex issue and create healthier societies worldwide. A total of 25 students participated in both the activities. Monalika Sharma, Sem 5 stands first in the slogan writing competition followed by Shivani Devi, Sem 3 and Kajal Thakur, Sem 3 who secured second and third positions respectively. More than 100 students attended the programme

Bhageshwar Singh, Sem 3 secured first position in the symposium whereas Ananya Rajput, Sem 5 and Ankush Kalotra, Sem 5 secured second and third position respectively. Prof. Ritika Mahajan, Dr. Divya Puri, Dr. Mukesh Sharma acted as the judges for both the events. The whole proceedings were carried out by Dr. Mohd. Riaz, Convenor of Nasha Mukht Bharat Abhiyan. The programme was organised under the guidance of Dr. Bhavnaish Chand, Principal GDC Ramnagar, who applauded the organisers of the seminar for taking such initiative. Finally, the session concluded with the formal vote of thanks by Dr. Monica, HOD History. Refreshment was also distributed among students who participated in the event.

The organising members of the event were Dr. Monica (Convenor, Cultural and Debate & Symposium Committee), Dr. Om Parkash (HOD Sanskrit), Dr. Mohd. Riaz (Convenor, Nasha Mukht Bharat Abhiyan), Prof. Ritika Mahajan (Convenor, Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav, NSS PO), Dr. Divya Puri (HOD, Psychology), Dr. Rashmi Gupta (Faculty, Physics), Prof. Anice Ahmed (HOD English) and Dr. Sonam Gandotra (Faculty, Computer Applications). Apart this, following staff members Prof. Suresh Kumar Dogra (HOD, Physics), Prof. Harmeet Kour (HOD, Botany), Prof. Brinder Kumar (HOD, Zoology), Prof. Swarna Bhougal (HOD, Political Science), Prof. Aditya Sharma (HOD, Computer Applications) and Prof. Mushtaq Ahmed (HOD, BBA) were also present.
