Ghulam Nabi Azad Outlines DPAP’s Agenda, Ensuring Jobs, Land Rights, and Special Compensation for Border Regions

Jammu, 23-12-2023 : Ghulam Nabi Azad, former Chief Minister and chairman of the Democratic Progressive Azad Party has articulated a comprehensive vision for the socio-economic upliftment of Jammu and Kashmir, pledging to reinstate the Roshni Scheme in its original form if elected to power. Addressing a public rally in R.S. Pura, Azad emphasized the need to revoke anti-people laws that hinder the growth of the Union Territory (UT). He highlighted the economic setback caused by the recent abolition of the Roshni Scheme, which had been a vital source of livelihood, land protection, and job security for thousands of people.

Azad’s commitment extends to special attention for areas, like R.S. Pura, situated along the Line of Control (LoC) or the International border with Pakistan, addressing the losses incurred due to border uncertainties. He underscored the significance of compensatory schemes tailored to benefit these regions socioeconomically. Denouncing religious-based politics, Azad expressed his dedication to fostering unity and harmony among different religious communities.

Recognizing the pressing issue of drug addiction among the youth in the UT, Azad pledged to tackle this menace and prioritize the well-being of the younger generation. Securing jobs and land for the people of Jammu and Kashmir emerged as Azad’s top priority, emphasizing their inherent rights to utilize resources for their own benefit. He lauded the secular values of the people in the Jammu region, asserting that peace and prosperity hinge on unity, irrespective of caste, creed, or color.

Azad proposed specific measures, such as providing 5 Marla land plots to those living adjacent to the LoC or International Border and ensuring adequate compensation for refugees through a one-time settlement. These initiatives form a central part of his party’s agenda, with a commitment to implementing them if elected to power.
