Ghulam Nabi Azad Pledges to Restore ‘Golden Era’ in J&K through Developmental Vision upon Potential Election Victory

10-08-2023 : Ghulam Nabi Azad, former Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir and Chairman of the Democratic Progressive Azad Party (DPAP), vehemently criticized past administrations for their perceived anti-people policies. Speaking at a large public rally in Gatti Morh, Bhaderwah, Azad expressed his firm commitment to ushering in a ‘golden era’ in Jammu and Kashmir if granted the mandate to govern. Reminiscing about his prior tenure as Chief Minister, he highlighted the triple-shift work culture and extensive development initiatives that had been implemented to benefit the region.

Azad asserted, “The people of Jammu and Kashmir still remember the triple-shift work culture and massive development across Jammu and Kashmir besides huge employment opportunities provided to the educated local youth and unskilled/semi-skilled works in the Jammu and Kashmir when he was Chief Minister for a short stint of just two and half years in the Jammu and Kashmir.” He underscored his efforts in establishing significant tourism projects, fostering Self Help Groups to aid unemployed engineers, and invigorating the rural economy.

The DPAP Chairman expressed concern that many of his pro-people and developmental initiatives have been reversed under the current dispensation. “When we started developmental works in triple-shifts in Jammu and Kashmir, it provided massive job opportunities to all those who were migrating to other states to earn their livelihood,” Azad emphasized. He lamented the contrast between the previous era of peace, prosperity, and economic growth and the current atmosphere of economic pressure and unemployment.

Azad vowed that, if elected to power, he would strive to revive the region’s ‘golden era’ and committed to the comprehensive development of not only the erstwhile Doda district but also other regions across Jammu and Kashmir. He recounted his achievements in establishing infrastructure such as roads, schools, and hospitals, even in remote areas.

Critiquing the present regime’s approach, Azad argued that its tough stance has had adverse economic implications and led to unprecedented levels of unemployment. He observed that the general populace across different regions of the state has been grappling with significant challenges and that there seems to be a growing disconnect between the bureaucracy and the public.

Azad outlined his vision for elevating the rural economy and generating sustainable livelihoods. He highlighted the region’s abundant natural resources and expressed readiness with a comprehensive plan to harness them for the betterment of the people.

Emphasizing the importance of strengthening the party’s grassroots level presence, Azad called upon party members to engage with the public directly and encourage their participation in the envisioned journey of peace and development.

During his visit to Gatti Morh, Kapra, and Chinta areas of Bhaderwah constituency, Azad also engaged with various public delegations, underscoring his dedication to understanding and addressing the concerns of the people at the ground level.
