Ghulam Nabi Azad Warns Against Divisive Elements Seeking to Disrupt Peace in Jammu and Kashmir
05-08-2023 : In a public meeting held at the Gaglla area of Doda on the first day of his 10-day tour of Chenab Valley, Ghulam Nabi Azad, chairman of the Democratic Progressive Azad Party (DPAP), expressed concern over the actions of divisive elements who are actively seeking to disturb the peace among communities in Jammu and Kashmir. He emphasized the importance of remaining vigilant and united in order to prevent any instability in the region.
Azad highlighted the immense suffering the Union Territory has endured over the past 33 years of militancy, which resulted in the loss of precious lives, a weakened local economy, and a lack of overall development. He stressed that it is crucial for the people to recognize and counter the efforts of those attempting to exploit and disrupt the peaceful atmosphere prevailing in the area.
The DPAP supremo acknowledged the strong bond and harmony that exists between different communities in Chenab Valley and Pir Panjal. Despite disturbances in neighboring regions, the people of these areas have upheld and cherished secular values, setting an example of unity and coexistence for ages.
With a cautious tone, Azad directed the party leadership and workers to work towards strengthening the social cohesion across the valley. He warned about the presence of elements that are inimical to peace in Jammu and Kashmir and called for collective efforts to thwart their divisive intentions.
Azad firmly believed that development is intricately linked to peace and stability. He reassured the people of the DPAP’s commitment to the region’s development, expressing concern over the underdevelopment of Chenab Valley, which he attributed to the politics of indifference. The former chief minister reflected on his own tenure, stating that during his short period of two and a half years as chief minister, the region experienced a golden era of progress, and he vowed to continue supporting the development of all far-flung areas in Jammu and Kashmir.
