GLDM Degree College Hiranagar organises workshop on “Entrepreneurship skill, Attitude and Behavior development”
Hiranagar 05-04-2023: GLDM Govt. Degree College, Hiranagarorganised one day workshop on “Entrepreneurship skill, Attitude, and Behavior development” on 5th April 2023. The objective of the workshop was to create awareness about art and handicraft and also to prepare students with skills like critical thinking, design thinking, innovative thought process, and an entrepreneurial mindset.
The resource persons of the workshop were Ms. ShalluDogra, owner of Shellz Phulkari also entrepreneur and Artisan of Phulkari, and Mr. TannujDogra, Artisan of Calcico. Both resource persons were of immense experience in the field of art and craft. The foundation they are chairing is also registered with the Department of Handicrafts and Handloom Jammu and Kashmir. The whole programme was organized under the patronage of worthy Principal Dr. Pragya Khanna.Dr. Pragya Khanna in her address emphasized the need for students to realize that entrepreneurship is a field that has enormous scope. She also called upon the students to go for alternate opportunities of employment besides govt. sector. The program started with a welcome address by Prof. Ritika, Start-up Activity Coordinator and Head Dept. of Political Science.
Further proceedings of the program were handled by Prof. Kiran Thapa, Internship Coordinator IIC GLDM Degree College, Hiranagar. Ms. ShalluDogra gave a detailed presentation on Jammu Phulkari and demonstrated to the students how Phulkari art is done on various articles like Dupatta, suits, cushion covers, pillow covers, laptop bags, clutches, etc. Mr. Tanuj Dogra also deliberated on the famous Calico Art. At the end Dr. Arun Kumar, Social Media Coordinator proposed a formal vote of thanks. The Faculty members present in the workshop were Prof. Sujat Khan IQAC Coordinator, Prof. Praveen Sharma President IIC, Dr. Davinder Kour Convener IIC, Dr. Jyoti Rani Co-Convener IIC, other members of IIC and faculty members. The programme was attended by 70 students of the college and also from the adjoining colleges.
