Goa Nightclub Fire: Luthra Brothers Detained in Thailand Over Tragedy

Saurabh and Gaurav Luthra, absconding owners of Birch by Romeo Lane, held in Phuket following deadly fire that claimed 25 lives.

Panaji, Dec 11: Thai authorities have detained Saurabh Luthra and Gaurav Luthra, co-owners of the Goa nightclub Birch by Romeo Lane, following a deadly fire that killed 25 people. The detention comes after an Interpol Blue Corner Notice was issued at India’s request, officials confirmed.

The brothers were held in Phuket, Thailand, and the process to bring them back to India is currently underway. According to authorities, the Luthras booked their tickets to Phuket at 1:17 am on December 7, just hours after the fire broke out in Arpora, North Goa. At the time, emergency teams were still battling the blaze and rescuing staff members.

The duo departed India early on Sunday via an IndiGo flight, prompting the Goa Police to approach the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for a Blue Corner Notice against them.

The arrests mark a significant step in the ongoing investigation into the deadly nightclub fire, as authorities work to hold the responsible parties accountable.
