Government Revokes Orders Granting Powers to LG and Advisors in Administrative Council

JAMMU, Oct 16: In a significant development, the Jammu and Kashmir Government has annulled multiple orders that previously vested the Lieutenant Governor (LG) with the authority to serve as the Chairman of the Administrative Council (AC).

These orders also empowered the LG’s Advisors and other senior officers, granting them the functions and powers equivalent to those of Ministers within the Council. This move marks a shift in the administrative structure and decision-making process of the Union Territory, signaling potential changes in governance and policy implementation in the region.
